Retouching is one of those things that seems to always be kept under the rug. Unfortunately it has become a standard in this digital age… and to be honest, I would prefer to be outside shooting rather than being in front of the computer going square-eyed. Sometimes, though its unavoidable. Here are 2 examples.

This first image was shot for NRMA – Open Road Magazine.
I had to shoot a cover shot of 4 cars. I was only given about 1/2 an hour to shoot the cars and the only elevated position I could get had a pretty ugly background.

Here are a few shots from a recent trip to Canberra for Top Gear Magazine. We had an interesting mix of locations.

I was lucky enough to be part of this amazing trip for Wheels magazine.
I was asked to shoot the first 2 legs of the trip. This entailed 9 days of driving/shooting with about 1000km to drive per-day. Limited to one bag (For clothes and camera gear) it was a struggle for me to pack only a couple of lenses and single camera body, but man was it fun! We headed out to Tugalong Recreation Park for a full day shoot with Australian Dirt Bike Magazine.
It was a long day. There was a number of bike comparisons and also their cover shot in the afternoon.
We came up with a fire concept for the cover a few weeks before. The bike on the cover was a new Chinese built machine that uses all the new technology but its price point is almost half as much as all its competitors.

What a stunning landscape. I traveling there for some snowboarding last year and was blown away by the landscape, I made a promise to my girlfriend that we would return the following year. We spent a week traveling from the top of NZ thought to the bottom.

Just got back from South Australia. I spent 3 days in the Flinders Ranges shooting 3 softroaders for Top Gear. We camped in freezing temperatures but it was an awesome trip and I hope to visit the area again one day.
